在古代，有很多人希望能找到一種方法，將低賤的金屬變?yōu)榻鹱印＿@種方法就是所謂的煉金術(shù)。據(jù)說煉金術(shù)最早在古埃及興起，在阿拉伯語中叫做al kimiya。其中，al是定冠詞，相當(dāng)于英語中的the,kimiya據(jù)說是埃及的古稱，字面意思是“黑色泥土構(gòu)成的大地”。煉金術(shù)流傳至歐洲后，其名稱al kimiya演變成了英語中的alchemy（煉金術(shù)），煉金術(shù)士自然就是alchemist，后來又演變?yōu)閏hemist。表示化學(xué)的詞根chemi就源自于此，化學(xué)chemistry就源自煉金術(shù)alchemy。=alchemy['?lk?m?]n煉金術(shù)，煉丹術(shù)，魔力=alchemist['?lk?m?st]n煉金術(shù)士=chemist['kem?st]n化學(xué)家；化學(xué)工作者；藥劑師；煉金術(shù)士
